Calculating the compressive strength of a real rock specimen

Installing a rock anchor is a major responsibility on the shoulders of a route setter. Determining the appropriate rock anchor type and size depends upon the rock type. Indian climbing scene is on a boom especially in the southern and western part of India. One odd day our Chief Marketing Officer, Sohan put us in touch with the owner of Crag Studio in Hyderabad. He has undertaken a massive task of bolting several routes in Hyderabad region.

He was very kind to get in touch with us for his requirements but he wasn’t sure about the bolts that befitted the rocks into consideration. We are a curious sort and wished to see what the rock felt like from this part of the country. Ranga was polite enough to send a sample of rock halfway across the country to us. That’s true, he sent a rock specimen from that region and rock the size of a football.
